Opera Browser for Galaxy Tab

  • PDF

Opera has an Android tablet version brewing and they've released a video demonstrating it on the Galaxy Tab!

At the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show Opera Software will unveil the first public preview of Opera for tablets. They claim this specialized browser for tablets will provide the smoothest tablet browsing experience on the market.

“In 2011, tablets are a new must-have. Opera is creating waves with the first public preview of Opera for tablets,” said Christen Krogh, Chief Development Officer, Opera Software. “Opera for tablets brings the same trusted Internet experience to tablets and netbook PCs as users have come to love on their mobile phones and desktops.”

I'm using Dolphin right now and find it to work pretty well. The text on the page doesn't go fuzzy when you scroll (like the default browser) and it seems quite a bit faster.  What do you use?

New HD Games for your Galaxy Tab!

  • PDF

Gameloft has released several new HD games and some of them work with the Galaxy Tab, the video below gives you a preview of what they have available. You can see the Android games they have available on their Android Games page.

Unfortunately, the games are not distributed through the Android Market (based on my search) and you can only get them from Gameloft's site. In addition they are only available to certain carrier's Tab devices. If you click HERE you can see what Tab models are supported (look at your model # on the back). I have the AT&T model and I think I'm out of luck for now :(

Video Multiconferencing on the Galaxy Tab with Mirial ClearSea

  • PDF

Mirial announced the Samsung Galaxy Tab as one of the certified Android devices for Mirial ClearSea. The software application allows video conferencing for Android devices over Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G networks. It states support for both SIP and H.323 standards. The price might not fit your wallet.

Check out this neat demo!

Run Ubuntu Linux on Galaxy Tab

  • PDF

This one might be better filed in the category of ... Don't try this at home.

The guys from XDA-Devs have Ubuntu, the Linux distro, running on the Samsung Galaxy Tab.  As with most of these unsupported ports there are a lot of "gotchas" and it's more about seeing if you can make it work than trying to use it.

Since the OS is not designed for touch devices it won't be real useful without a mouse and keyboard :)  If you're a geek and are interested in powering the Galaxy Tab with Ubuntu you just might enjoy following the long step by step installation procedure. :)

Here's a video to see it in action. The Tab is a pretty great interface already, but this is cool!
